Lara Tate
Lara is a psychologist who has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. She takes a person-centred, strengths-based approach to therapy, with a focus on creating a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where clients feel heard, understood and empowered to work towards their goals. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Lara is joined by her two much-loved Cavoodles, Theo and Lola, who love meeting new people and making everyone feel welcome. Theo is a five-year-old straight-haired Cavoodle, while Lola is a one-year-old Cavoodle. Together, Lara, Theo and Lola help create a warm, welcoming and supportive environment where clients can feel at ease, build connections and engage in therapy at their own pace.
Lara has extensive experience conducting psychological assessments, including cognitive and learning assessments. She has a particular interest in Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) in areas of reading, written expression and mathematics. She also has several years of experience assessing Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Lara is passionate about understanding each individual’s unique strengths, challenges and support needs, and providing tailored recommendations to help them thrive across home, school, work and everyday life.
Lara has experience using a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Lara tailors her approach to each individual, recognising that everyone has different experiences and support needs.
Lara completed her Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Monash University, where her research explored young children’s sense of belonging within the school environment. This reflects an area Lara is particularly passionate about, and she values working collaboratively with schools, families and other professionals to ensure children and young people feel understood, included and supported to reach their full potential. Lara is passionate about helping create positive educational experiences by advocating for each individual’s unique learning, developmental and emotional needs, and supporting the implementation of meaningful adjustments and strategies that promote wellbeing, engagement and a sense of belonging at school.
Outside of work, Lara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, getting lost in a good book, going on road trips and exploring the outdoors. She also loves playing Nintendo Switch, especially Stardew Valley.

You will also meet Bailey, Raina's much-loved 14-year-old Spoodle, who joins her in sessions. Bailey loves cuddles, kisses and, above all, treats! He is generally quite relaxed and enjoys a good nap in the room, although the sound of a treat packet is sure to grab his attention.
Outside the clinic, Raina enjoys spending time with Bailey, reading, writing, watching TV shows and playing games, particularly Animal Crossing and Mario Kart. She is also a fan of K-pop and K-dramas and is hoping to get back into watching more anime now that her studies are winding down, so recommendations are always welcome!
